The unconventional super hero’s movie is well underway, and Reynolds isn’t above teasing fans.
Last year when some CG test footage for the rumored Deadpool movie leaked - fully loaded with Ryan Reynolds voicing over the character - every Marvel fan's head exploded. Though the video was quickly taken down almost everywhere, the glimpses of it were enough to start a conversation.
Reynolds played Wade Wilson, who later becomes Deadpool, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. His spot-on portrayal of the quick-witted regenerative assassin had audiences immediately calling for his own spin-off. Reynolds recently told EW that the film was hard to get made because, "He's a character that's aware he's in a film, he's aware that he breaks the fourth wall." Deadpool's self-awareness is one of his most beloved traits, and Reynolds likened the project to an independent superhero film based on the size of their budget compared to other franchise blockbusters.
See Reynolds (Ryan, not Burt) in his Deadpool costume below, and see the test footage trailer that had social media erupting last fall that saved the Deadpool movie from, er, the dead. (Warning: some violence and strong language in the trailer.)
Deadpool is slated for a February 2016 release date.
