Despite a campaign against it by the Media Research Center and Family Research Council (that include Tony Perkins and Brent Bozell), ABC has officially picked up The Real O'Neals, a sitcom about a "seemingly perfect Catholic family" that includes a gay son. The show was originally going to be based on Dan Savage's life but the story evolved in a "different direction" during the making of the pilot, according to Deadline.
But the trailer for the show -- which stars Martha Plimpton as the mom, Jay R. Ferguson as the dad, and Noah Galvin as gay son Kenny -- doesn't shy away from the gay subject matter. In the pilot, it seems we'll even get a sexy stud who gives advice to 14-year-old Noah when he's presented with a horny girlfriend who wants to start sexual experimentation. Let the hijinks begin!
