Disney’s Tangled to Become an Animated Series

Disney’s Tangled to Become an Animated Series

Tangled

Rapunzel, Eugene, Pascal, and Maximus are all coming back.

After the resounding success of Disney's Tangled (2010), followed by an animated short that preceded the 3D theatrical re-release of Beauty and the Beast, the re-telling of the classic story of Rapunzel is set to become a series in 2017.

The series will take place between the end of the film, when Rapunzel was reunited with her parents and had fallen in love with Eugene, a.k.a. Flynn Rider, and the animated short, which focused on their wedding.

Rapunzel will get to know her parents and the people of the kingdom, as well as a new character, Cassandra, who will act as the fledgling princess' handmaiden and friend.

In a release about the series, Disney said, "Her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity about the world drives her to the realization that there is so much more she needs to learn before she can truly accept her royal destiny. She boldly puts her crown and impending marriage on hold to seek out epic adventures, much to the dismay of the King who, after missing out on Rapunzel's youth, must accept that his daughter is now an independent young woman."

Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi have already signed on to reprise their roles, and Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, the composer and lyricist (respectively) who worked on the original film and were responsible for "I See the Light," one of the best Disney ballads to date, are also on-board.
