Imagine if John Stewart or John Oliver did their shtick, but they were way more in your face about it. Like Sex Pistols levels of affronting people. What you'd have would be The Yes Men, who have tried to bring about revolution through pranks for the last 20 years. And if you think it's "easy" to do that while trying to have a relationship, then guess again.
"Mike Bonanno" and "Andy Bichlbaum" (not their real names) have been sticking it to the man for two decades and now they've recorded their efforts on film. In The Yes Men Are Revolting, the duo are trying to make a difference in the arena of climate change, but they are also now in their 40s and want to have successful personal lives as well. So, Andy, who is gay in real life, is trying to preserve his relationship with his boyfriend while continuing to create wild public activism stunts. And that's not simple, as you witness in this autobiographical film.
Bold, brash, and brilliantly bizarre, The Yes Men Are Revolting may not bring about lasting change in global environmental policy (yet), but it'll at least be a few laughs.
The Yes Men Are Revolting opens in New York June 12 and is available to view online. You can watch the film here. Check out the trailer below:
