After the internet was sent into a tailspin about Zayn's departure, it looks like his solo career may be taking off.
It seems as though Zayn Malik, once one fifth of One Direction, is attempting to get his solo career off the ground, after saying ta-ta to the ultra successful British boy band in late March.
The 22-year-old singer has signed a solo deal with RCA Records, a recording label associated with artists such as Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears, according to Attitude Magazine.
Malik, who tweeted on Wednesday about his departure and his new musical endeavors, said that the real reason for his exit from the boy band was to show everyone his "real" self, throwing a bit of shade in passing:
“I guess I never explained why I left , it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who i really am! #realmusic #RCA !!”— zayn (@zayn) 1438200604

We can't wait to hear what Malik's "#realmusic" sounds like.
While Malik's former bandmates have yet to express any public opinions about the start of his solo career va social media, former boss and mastemind behind 1D, Simon Cowell, tweeted a "congratulations" to the singer on Wednesday, revealing that he had a role to play in Malik's transition to RCA.
“We have been working on this for a while and I am pleased to say congratulations to @Zaynmalik on signing with @RCARecords”— Simon Cowell (@Simon Cowell) 1438203871
Looks like we'll just have to wait and see what most cherished former member of 1D has in store for the Zayn-deprived world.
