Idris Elba Is Finally Playing James Bond (Kind Of)

It's always one of the hottest topics for the 007 franchise: who will play the next James Bond?

Now that Daniel Craig has shot his fourth movie as the international secret agent, his time as Bond is drawing to a close. And while the fans of the films, especially lovers of the modern incarnation, have a favorite successor, it's been hard to sway the powers-that-be.

What began as a whispered idea on the internet quickly grew into an online campaign to have Idris Elba become the next Bond. After the idea got a less-than-stellar reception from people on the James Bond team, races cards were pulled and comments were made, the most recent by 007 author Anthony Horowitz who said Elba was "too street" to play the clean-cut agent (to which he had a cheeky Instagram response).

Now, to answer our prayers, the remix team over at Vulture have given us a fictional Bond trailer starring Elba. If this is the closest we get, we'll savor every second of it. Watch the video below and see that Elba is the perfect balance of street and gentleman.
