It was only a matter of time before the NBC series tackled the transgender storyline in a new way, and tonight's episode of Law & Order: SVU, titled "Transgender Bridge," episode focuses on 15 year-old Avery Parker (guest star Christopher Dylan) who is attacked by high school boys on her way home from school. According to the synopsis:
"Taunts and jokes intensify to pushing and shoving, leaving Avery in the hospital and three assailants under arrest. When the DA's office decides to try one of the culprits, 15 year-old Darius McCrae (guest star Dante Brown), as an adult, the SVU squad agonizes over whether the punishment fits the crime, and must deal with the pain of both families involved."
The episode also guest stars Adrienne Moore (who plays "Black Cindy" on Orange Is the New Black) and is sure to be one to watch for trans representation on network television.
The Law & Order: SVU episode airs September 30 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. Watch a preview clip below:
