Colton Haynes Serves '50s Housewife Drag in Vanity Fair
Colton Haynes, no stranger to drag, got in touch with his inner Julianne Moore for a gender-bending shoot with Tyler Shields, via Vanity Fair.
Haynes and his Arrow co-star Emily Bett Rickards play a picture-perfect, classic, all-American, white bread, no crust kind of couple, only to switch roles, or at the very least clothes.
The photographs are part of a new book Shields is currently preparing to publish called Provocateur.
"The interesting thing about the vintage dress we used is the cuts they used to use fit him so well," Shields told Vanity Fairabout Haynes and the shoot. "It was when we were talking about shooting Colton in the vintage women's suit that the idea to shoot Colton and Emily in each other's outfits came up. I think it speaks a lot to the time we are in right now as androgyny is a two-way street."
A street Haynes is unafraid of traversing, having recently (kind of) come out earlier this year. That being said, am I reaching for the stars to ask for some foundation and a bold lip here, Haynes? We've all come to expect more from you, but that's the price you pay for setting the bar high.
