Golden Globe winner Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in Sony biopic Marita, a film that follows the story of Marita Lorenz, a former of lover of Fidel Castro.
Lorenz was said to have met and have an affair with Castro in 1959 when she was 19 years old. After living in Cuba, Lorenz joined anticommunists in the U.S., and was sent on an assassination mission by the CIA to kill the dictator one year later, but she claimed her love for Castro prevented her from doing so.
The Hunger Games star has a busy year ahead of her. Lawrence will be reprising her role as Mystique in X-Men Apocalypse, starring in Passengers (a follow up to The Imitation Game) with Chris Pratt, and working on upcoming projects with Darren Aronofsky and Steven Spielberg.
Marita will be written by Eric Warren Singer, co-writer of American Hustle, and is scheduled for a 2017 release.
