Tyra Banks Is Still 'Very Scared' of Naomi Campbell (#SAME)

It's been over 20 years since Tyra Banks stormed the runway of the public conscience, thus pitting her in direct competition with the other black supermodel of the day (because with black girls, much like Highlander, there can only be one) Naomi Goddamn Campbell.

While Tyra and Naomi ostensibly patched things up back in 2005 when Naomi kicked a door down onto the set of Tyra's talk show where Banks finally had the opportunity to cry her feelings out to a seemingly unbothered Campbell, who for her part offered one of the most unapologetic apologies in recent memory.

Well, turns out what we thought was water under the catwalk has continued to drip out over the past decade as Tyra is still not over it.

Banks and her partner/baby daddy, Norwegian photographer Erik Asla, appeared on the Scandanavian talk show Skavlan where she discussed her relationship with the queen of the sartorial side-eye.

Tyra's seemingly overnight success drew comparisons to Campbell, as the only other high-profile black model of the time (and, really, of every time).

"It was really unfair to her," Tyra told host Fredrik Skavlan. "But [Naomi's] response was," Banks began, before demurring, "to this day I'm very scared of her."

Skavlan tried to press Tyra for details, but she insisted, "I don't want to go too deep into the past, but it was very difficult--like some of the lowest times of my life, dealing with that."

Whatever lingering feelings Tyra may have, Naomi has appeared to move on. "It does irk me that two women of color have to be pitted against each other," Campbell told Entertainment Tonight back in 2013. "I'm very proud of Tyra and what she's done with America's Next Top Model. I'm proud of her, I'm proud to know her."
