In his highly-anticipated new autobiography, former One Direction member and current solo star Zayn Malik reveals that he suffered from an eating disorder before leaving the band in 2015.
In an excerpt of the book obtained by The Sun, he confesses that he would not eat for, "days -- sometimes two or three days straight," in order to regain a sense of control he felt that he had lost.
"I had lost so much weight I had become ill. The workload and the pace of life on the road put together with the pressures and strains of everything going on within the band had badly affected my eating habits."
Eating disorders among men are no joke; as many as 10 million men in the United States will experience an eating disorder during their lifetime. According to recent studies, eating disorders are three times as likely among the gay community, as well.
Zayn has previously admitted to experiencing extreme bouts of anxiety, which he also writes about in his book.
