Emojis have come a long way since we sent our first winky-faces almost two decades ago. We've come full-circle with our ancestors, reverting from written words to pictures to describe ourselves. But did the cave-painters and ancient Egyptians ever have a symbol for David Bowie? I don't think so.
In the latest iOS update, users will get a new cluster of updated emojis, including a light bolt-emblazoned male and female singer, scientists, judges, new animals, and new and improved foods. We may gain David Bowie but we also lose the classic peach emoji, long-used as the butt of sexting. Alas, a thing isn't beautiful because it lasts.
