Madonna Covers Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’ As a Callout to Trump
A guy like you should wear many warnings.
Madonna built the early days of her career on being controversial, so at this point seeing her get political is to be expected.
This time around Madge used her more sedate "Tears of Clown" show during Art Basel as her platform to speak and sing her mind. During a stripped-down version of Britney Spears 2003 hit "Toxic," the singer sat alone in a chair on stage while visions of Donald Trump and post-election protests played behind her.
The cabaret performance was put on for charity to help raise funds for Malawi, where Madonna's son, David, is from.
"Everything ok guys, so far?" she asked the audience after the song. "I'm not being too opinionated? Too extreme? I'm not insulting anyone? I must not be doing something right." Watch the performance below.
