Showing off some major breath control, Colbert and Stipe sing a painfully accurate version of the popular '80s song "It's The End of the World" by R.E.M.
The lyrics to the performance--complete with matching artwork--are comprised of cultural happenings over the course of this year.
Stipe admittedly doesn't contribute much lyrically to the performance, but serves a face that speaks for us all as we take a look back at everything that's happened.
As the song comes to an end they're joined by James Franco and together the trio help give 2016 the send off it oh-so-desperately needs.
You can watch Franco's interview here and Stipe's here.
