In an interview with Rolling Stone, singer and songwriter Halsey talked about her bisexuality. The "tri-bi" label the internet has given her comes from being bisexual, biracial, and having bipolar disorder. Halsey completely despises this label, saying, "I fucking hate it, the idea that something like that would be trivialized down to a fucking hashtag."
Halsey continued talking about the label, bringing up the topic of biphobia and internet haters.
"I mean, there's a ton of biphobia -- people refuse to accept bisexuality as an actual sexuality. And I'm biracial, but also white-passing, which is a unique perspective. So these kids say, like, 'Oh, fucking tri-bi Halsey! She'll never miss an opportunity to talk about it!' I want to sit them down like a mom and go, 'Six months ago you were begging for an artist that would talk about this shit! But then I do, and you say, oh, not her. Someone else.'"
Despite the hate and biphobia she's received from internet trolls, she doesn't allow it to faze her. "I have to remember for every kid saying something awful, there's a kid saying something great," Halsey said. "Because I have this incredible sold-out tour."
