Matt Bomer has made a mark on the film and television industries during his recent rise to fame. With Magic Mike and American Horror Story under his belt, he's proven that, though nice to look at, he can also act. Who better to fill the shoes of Hollywood icon, Montogmery Clift?
Bomer was cast last year as Clift in a HBO biopic. Monty Clift will paint a vivid picture of the legendary actor's life, from his rise to fame to his repressed homosexuality to his unfortunate death.
Bomer, who came out of the closet in 2012, related to the character on a personal level. He recently spoke with People about what drew him to the role:
"Even as a young kid - before obviously I knew anything about him, or even myself - I saw him on screen and I thought, 'Oh wow he actually looks a lot like my brother'... He was one of those really early screen icons for me to start with. Then once I learned the circumstances of his life, I realized how he was someone who did not want to be relegated to the times he lived in and was so progressive in so many ways."
Monty Clift is currently in production.
