Unicorns may have indeed existed in the relatively recent past, but they aren't the horned-equine variety that we're used to seeing descend from the heavens on a rainbow. They looked more like this:
The mammal Elasmotherium sibiricum, commonly knowns as the Siberian unicorn, was thought to have lived some 350,000 years ago. However, the recent unearthing of a fossil in Kazakhstan places the animal to a more recent 29,000 years ago (humans evolved some 200,000 years ago). The creature, closely related to a rhinoceros, stood six-and-a-half feet tall, fifteen feet long, and weighed in around four tons. So in place of a majestic, silvery horse we have a scruffy SUV, let's see what Lisa Frank does with this new information.
