"I was looking for a tablet to commit suicide," says Riyadh's father.
In a new video from Irish YouTuber Riyadh K, the web personality sits down with his parents to talk about the difficult process of coming out, first to oneself, then to one's family.
Riyadh opened up about working out the courage to tell his mother first, and then, months later, to finally write I'm gay in a note to his dad.
What he hadn't expected was his father's own truthtelling: "I actually got up that night at--after you all went to sleep--about 3 or 4 in the morning, and I was looking for a tablet to commit suicide That's why I say it was so stupid."
The video ended on a happy note, with Riyadh explaining: "So, let me just tell you, that if we can go from where we were to where we are now, which is just a completely different place, then you can too. I mean, I've never seen a turnaround in two parents as much as these two."
