You're never too old to need Mary Poppins.
It's been more than 50 years since Julie Andrews descended from the heavens on her magical umbrella to teach an English banker about proper parenting as Mary Poppins, and now the practically perfect mantle rests with Emily Blunt.
Blunt will play the whimsical nanny in Mary Poppins Returns, set for a December 25, 2018 release date. The film, which, according to EW takes place in depression-era London, will follow a grown-up Michael and Jane Banks. Poppins visits the siblings, along with Michael's three children, after a personal loss to help them find them find the lost joy in their lives.
The sequel will also star Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack, a street lamplighter, and will be directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, and Marc Platt.
Hopefully a spoonful of sugar will help stomach current movie ticket prices.
