Gay Fans Get Engaged Onstage at Jess Glynne Concert
Lewis Nicholls, a 22-year-old Jess Glynne fan in Cornwall, England, recently proposed to his boyfriend, Darren Mitchell, onstage at her concert.
After emailing Glynne's managment team on a whim, Nicholls told The Plymouth Heraldthat, "I just wanted to give him a moment. When her management replied saying that Jess really wanted to let me do it I was shocked and thought, 'I've actually got to do this now.'"
Nicholls explained to his boyfriend that he'd surprised him with better seats at the front of the audience. When Glynne then called them onstage for a dance, "Darren's face dropped, but he loved it."
That's when, in front of the entire crowd, Nicholls popped the question, and to everyone's delight, Mitchell said yes.
"In Cornwall sometimes you get a bit embarrassed holding hands and stuff in public," said Nicholls. "I don't know if there's a bit of stigma, but I just thought, 'stuff it,' I'm not bothered at all because I love him and I wanted to show that off in front of everyone."
When asked how he thinks the wedding can top the proposal, Nicholls responded, "I have been thinking about this. I don't know, I'll have to message the Queen to see if we can use Buckingham Palace."
