Just days after iconic filmmaker Gary Marshall died, his 1988 classic Beaches was given the greenlight for a Lifetime remake starring Idina Menzel.
Menzel will play the role of CC, originated by the legendary Bette Midler. In addition to giving her spin on old songs from the film like "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "The Glory of Love," she'll be serving us several new songs to please our ears at the 2017 premiere.
The modern queen of Broadway has appeared on television before, in Glee, and voiced Elsa in Disney's Frozen.
Beaches tells the story of two young women who become unlikely friends that remain together over a lifetime. CC is an aspiring musician in Los Angeles looking for her big break, while Hillary is the daughter of a lawyer searching for her purpose.
The film conquered the box office in the '80s, a critical and commercial success that earned both Song and Record of the Year at the Grammys for "Wind."
