YouTube darling Troye Sivan claimed he watched "every single coming out video" before coming out himself in 2013.
"Hearing their stories and everything comforted me so much," he said.
The 21-year-old "Wild" singer sat down with BuzzFeed to answer fan questions in a video posted last week, including his favorite food combo (ketchup on his mac 'n' cheese) and his favorite out celebrity.
"The first one that actually mattered to me who has since come out as not straight is Miley Cyrus," he said. "When I was like 13 or whatever and watching 'Hannah Montana,' I thought she was the coolest person in the world."
Sivan really responded when he heard that Cyrus's "My Heart Beats for Love" was inspired by a gay best friend.
"I was like, 'Oh my God, Miley Cyrus has a gay best friend. Why am I not this person?'"
Out's February cover star also called songwriting "the most therapeutic thing in the world." Can we hope for more music soon from the young pop star?
