Star Nick Jonas is full of more surprises than you may realize. In honor of the singer's 24th brithday Friday, we've compiled a list of some of the most interesting and noteworthy info from the star of our June/July issue.
1. He was discovered at a hair salon
A young Nick Jonas is waiting on his mom to finish getting her hair done when he starts to sing for some of the customers. A woman notices his talent and walks over to him to suggest that he go to see her manager.
And boom. Instant Stardom. Kinda straight out of a Disney movie right?
2. Not surprising, he's got excellent taste in music
He loves him some R&B. Jonas has said in interviews that some of his favorite songs and inspirations have been from people like Jhene Aiko, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, and Fall Out Boy.
He's also said that his favorite karaoke song to sing is "I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly.
3. His style is impeccable
Nick Jonas has become somewhat of a style icon in the world of men's fashion. His style has landed him features in Vogue, Teen Vogue, Complex, and Billboard.
4. What he looks for in a girlfriend?
With Jonas being such a heartthrob, the question on a lot people's minds is "What is he into?"
"Personality is key," he told E! News. "It's about finding someone that makes me think, brings something real to the table and just inspires me in some way"
He's also previously described that his ideal woman is "honest, has a sense sense of humor, and full of good times."
5. He's diabetic
The singer revealed that he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes back in 2007. He has since helped develop the Change for Children Foundation, which raises awareness for the disease.
6. He acts on and off camera
Jonas was performing on Broadway since before he was 8--starring in productions like Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast, and Annie.
Jonas never lost his love of the theater: He returned to Broadway in 2012 to replace Daniel Radcliffe and Darren Criss in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
7. He has a matching tattoo with his brother, Joe
There's no denying the brotherly love among the Jonases. As they booked gigs all around the world and even landed a TV show on Disney, it's clear they got to spend a lot of time together.
But just before this year's VMAs, Nick and older brother Joe debuted their matching arm tattoos.
8. He's a pastor's kid
He grew up with his parents who pastored a church in New Jersey. Faith has always been a large part of Jonas's life. He and his brothers once wore matching purity rings--which he has since removed.
"What's important now is my relationship with God," he told the Huffington Post, "and that I not judge and that I not be judged."
9. He has a taste for adventure
Nick isn't always the cool, calm and collected man we see on stage and on the screen. He's been on some wild adventures--including running with bulls in Spain and even stripping down to his underwear to cross a frozen lake in an episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls.
10. He's been in your life from the beginning
We all remember Nick Jonas in movies like Camp Rock or shows like Jonas--but it turns out Nick was around even before that. Remember those Chuck E Cheese commercials--with all the pizza and the ball pits?
If you take a closer look at one, you might catch a familiar face.
