The perfect queer protest.

YouTube star turned pop star Troye Sivan announced on Twitter today that he'll be sharing his "Heaven" music video on January 20--the same day as President-Elect Donald Trump's looming inauguration.

The Blue Neighbourhood single, which features "Heartbreak Dream" singer Betty Who, sees the 21-year-old gay artist reflecting on his teenage memories grappling with sexuality and religion. "Without losing a piece of me, how do I get to heaven?" he asks. "All my time is wasted feeling like my heart's mistaken."

Releasing Sivan's "Heaven" video on inauguration day holds special importance, considering Vice President-Elect Mike Pence's history of supporting gay conversion therapy and actively opposing gay marriage. The moving, atmospheric song speaks to the oppression queers have longtime experienced in the face of religion, which continues to find its way infiltrating American politics.
