Is Prince finally releasing his discography on Spotify? 

You may have already seen the ads in Manhattan's Union Square subway station--they're simple and ambiguous: a wash of aubergine with a small Spotify logo.

Though the ads are understated, they likely signal something exciting in the pipeline for Spotify, as Billboard suggests. Buzz about the possible release of Prince's music to streaming services in time for the 2017 Grammys has been building for months now, and these ads validate our suspicions.

According to Pitchfork, Prince's music will soon be available on Apple Music, ending the absence of his back catalog from all streaming services except Tidal. Special entertainment adviser to Prince's estate L. Londell McMillan has said that a deal hasn't yet confirmed, but Spotify's new advertisements have us feeling optimistic.
