The pair has spoken out against gay adoption and gay parenting in the past.
Tom Daley celebrated an exciting moment in his life as a highly visible gay athlete when he walked the runway of a fashion show in London. The Olympic medalist and World Champion diver chronicled the experience in a new episode of his vlog alongside his husband, Dustin Lance Black. Unfortunately the excitement was dulled when it was found out that Daley would be walking for Dolce & Gabbana, the designers with a storied history of anti-gay views on adoption and families.

Though it's never mentioned whether or not Daley or Black, both of whom are outspoken advocates for the LGBTQ community, knew about the designers' previous comments, it's hard to believe they'd never heard the problematic opinions. The pair had previously labeled children conceived by in vitro fertilization as the "chemical offspring" of a "rented uterus." Never mind that in vitro helps straight and gay couples alike, they also took a firm stance against gay parents raising children, saying "the family is not a fad."

Celebrities like Elton John, whom Gabbana called a "fascist," and Miley Cyrus have spoken out against the designers, even boycotting them after their offensive remarks. Even after Gabbana issued an apology saying, "We love gay couple. We are gay. We love gay couple. We love gay adoption. We love everything. It's just an express of my private point of view," it's impossible to forget such strong language.
We can only hope that Daley and Black were truly ignorant of the pair's past remarks. Watch Daley's vlog, below.
