Following in the footsteps of seminal female artists like Elisabeth Lebrun and Mary Cassatt, Britney Spears and her new turn as a painter is taking off. A painting by the star was auctioned this week for $10,000 to Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous host Robin Leach.
Spears donated the painting to auction and benefit concert Vegas Cares, where all proceeds will go towards a public mural memorializing the victims of the Las Vegas shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in October.

Spears posted the artwork to her Instagram last month. The video featured the singer with a canvas and easel wearing an oversized painter's smock as Mozart's "Turkish March" filled the air. Spears wrote, "Sometimes you just gotta play," followed by a slew of playful emojis.
The playful act proved to be philanthropic, benefiting a cause that commemorates the lives lost and the first responders responsible for the lives saved in the largest mass shooting in modern American history.
Bien pour vous, Ms. Spears!
