Annette Bening is the latest critically-acclaimed actress to be cast by TV titan Ryan Murphy. She'll play the role of Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco in the upcoming Katrina: American Crime Story, who served during and after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans and Louisiana as a state, Varietyreports.
Bening has been nominated for four Oscars and an Emmy, and has won two Golden Globes, though her previous work has mostly been in film. She most recently starred in the Oscar-nominated 20th Century Women.

American Crime Story already has another season set to air after Katrina--the anthology's third iteration will follow the murder of Gianni Versace. Rumors are still swirling that a possible fourth season will follow the sex scandal between former President Bill Clintion and Monica Lewinsky.
No premiere date is yet set for Katrina, but we know it won't be here until 2018. The first season of American Crime Story, The People vs. O.J. Simpson, won nine Emmys and two Golden Globes.
