Canadian pop sisters Tegan and Sara are stepping up to the join the needed fight against oppression with a new foundation,
the Tegan and Sara Foundation, that aims to fight for
LGBTQ women. The singers saw that LGBTQ women were underfunded, underrepresented and under researched, so they decided to take action and believed a foundation was the answer.

"We've realized in the last few years that a Foundation would allow us to raise much more money than we could ever hope to by using our standard 'T-shirt drive' type fundraising," Tegan and Sara told Noisey, "With a Foundation, we can also make sure that these funds and programs are reaching people in our community who need support."
The sisters' desire is for the foundation to usher in an era when LGBTQ women "wake up and go" about their days without feeling any different than the rest of society--true economic, health and representational equality across the board. This happens with doctors using correct pronouns, entertainment industries promoting positive storylines and ensuring people are educated about the "badass" women that fought before us.
Tegan and Sara have also partnered with Kiehl's to create a range of exclusive products, where 100 percent of net profits will be donated to the Tegan and Sara Foundation in support of queer youth. "We're fortunate to be connected to amazing individuals and brands (like Kiehl's) who care about the world and will continue to use all our resources and connections to make a difference," the told Noisey. "And we are always searching for new partners to join the movement for LGBTQ women's equality."
