Katy Perry Epitomizes Body Objectivity in ‘Bon Appétit’
Following her trip to a dystopian amusement park in "Chained to the Rhythm," Katy Perry is served up for consumption in her new video for "Bon Appetit."
Being cut from plastic wrap by a slew of chefs before she's tossed into flour and kneaded, the video makes an obvious parallel to what the media values women for: their bodies. After being floured, Perry's showered in vegetables and tossed into a broth to simmer. Once she's ready, the pop star's served on a literal platter to a group of high-profile dinner attendees right before Migos turns the table, binding their guests to their chairs as chefs unleash their cleavers.

Apart from Migos' own problematic remarks in the past about the LGBTQ community, while this video could serve as an important metaphor about the entertainment industry, it just seems to glorify violence and misogyny. It's one thing to embrace one's sexuality and body, but another to wreak vengeance on those who have pressured you in the past. Watch, below.
