Although Lifetime movies once seemed to be punishment for acting careers gone south, they're no longer just for the likes of Joey Lawrence, Haylie Duff and Tori Spelling. Thanks to recent titles like Flowers in the Attic and A Deadly Adoption, the network has secured cult status, embracing the campy nature of their made-for-TV movies.
That's why Courtney Love is the perfect addition to their archive of dramatic performances. The rock goddess plays the matriarch in a true crime film about the Menendez brothers. In 1989, Lyle and Erik Menendez were charged for the murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty. It was one of the most notorious cases of the '90s, making it a wonder that Ryan Murphy hasn't snatched up the rights for American Crime Story.
In the first trailer, we see Love as Kitty, an apparently unhappy wife to a successful entertainment executive, Jose (Benito Martinez). After abuse from their father and no intervention from their mother, the Menendez brothers (Nico Tortorella and Myko Olivier) take matters into their own hands.
Menendez: Blood Brothers premieres June 11 on Lifetime. Watch the trailer, below:
