Hallmark Now Offers Cards of Encouragement for Transitioning

They say there's a Hallmark card for everything (sorry, apps), but what that really means is there's a Hallmark card for all widely-accepted social events.

While that type of variety can be exhausting when trying to find the perfect Boss's Day card or birthday card for your goddaughter's niece, it says something about how normal these days are that you can buy a mass-produced card for them. Now, in a show of inclusion and evolving notions of what is normal in mainstream society, Hallmark has started offering a card for transgender and transitioning individuals.

Twitter user Renata Sancken made the drugstore discovery earlier this month, finding the card under an "Encouragement: Transgender/Transitioning" label, tweeting, "I've never seen Hallmark cards for gender transitioning before! Capitalism triumphs over hate??"

The card's cover reads: "You're becoming who you've always been" paired with the image of a butterfly, a common comparison for any sort of growth or metamorphosis, with the inside sampling reading: "How wonderful is that?"
