If there's ever been a strong contender for a superhero jumping in and saving us all from Trump's unstoppable mess, it's Laura Dern's new character in the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Dern, whose role is detailed in Vanity Fair's new cover story, will play Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, a resistance general wearing a flowy pink ensemble complete with matching pink hair. Consider us ready for rescue:
We learned a lot of other great things from the Star Wars special issue of Vanity Fair, out on stands today. Benicio Del Toro will play DJ, a "shifty" character previously unseen in the Star Wars world. And Billie Lourd, Carrie Fisher's daughter, will play Lieutenant Kaydel Connix.
Perhaps most exciting is the announcement of a new world in the universe, called Canto Bight, created by writer/director Rian Johnson. It's a casino-like world and "a playground, basically, for rich assholes," Johnson told Vanity Fair. And the outfits! Head over to the gallery to try and decipher if you're looking at stills from a Star Wars shoot or some unreleased Lady Gaga music video.
