Lifted off Halsey's sophomore album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, "Strangers" sees the 22-year-old bisexual singer joined by Fifth Harmony's own bisexual member, Lauren Jauregui. In a major move for the LGBTQ community, especially bi women, the two appeared this morning on The Today Show to perform their synth-driven track, bringing queer narratives to breakfast television.

"We're not lovers, we're just strangers with the same damn hunger." the two sang, facing opposite directions on stage. Halsey's lustful lyrics admirably embrace female pronouns: "She doesn't kiss me on the mouth anymore," while Jauregui later offers her own personal experience with a woman: "She doesn't call me on the phone anymore."
In an interview with The Zach Sang Show, Halsey said she wanted "Strangers" to be believable. "It needs to be real," she said. "So I'm not going to put a girl on the song to sing who's straight. I'm just not going to do it." Watch, below.
