Brace For Impact: Katy Perry Will Host the 2017 MTV VMAs

Katy Perry will host the 2017 MTV VMAs, following the release of her fifth studio album, Witness. The announcement came with an otherworldly clip of the pop star twirling gracefully in space, cast in a purple hue with the promise that "history will be eclipsed" come August, 27.

"I've been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I'm on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson," Perry said in a statement. "Come August 27th, I'll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids."

Perry has been nominated for five different awards, recognizing her music videos for Witness singles "Chained to the Rhythm," "Bon Appetit," as well as her Calvin Harris collaboration, "Feels." Click here to vote.
