The film is the feature-length directorial debut of Crystal Moselle, who previously created The Wolfpack.

Always one to challenge gender boundaries, Jaden Smith is reportedly in the cast of a film about female skateboarding, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, as-yet-untitled, is the feature-length directorial debut of Crystal Moselle, who previously created the documentary The Wolfpack, winner of Best Documentary at the Edinburgh Film Festival and the U.S. Documentary Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. It told the story of the six Angulo brothers, confined into a Lower East Side apartment with only movies to educate them about the outside world. Moselle also directed the short In One Day for Miu Miu's Women's Tale series, which was also about female skateboarders.

Smith's character in the movie is currently unknown, though he'll be joined in the cast by Orange Is The New Black's Elizabeth Rodriguez (Aleida Diaz), as well as the real-life female skateboarding collective Skate Kitchen. The film will be an expansion of In One Day, which follows 17-year-old Camille as she escapes from the suburbs into New York City to befriend a group of women skaters.

Moselle wrote the script for the film along with Aslihan Unaldi and Jennifer Silverman. It's already wrapped principal photography, shooting on location in New York City.
