Some roles are made for actors, and some actors make the role. For Glenn Close, it looks like she may hold onto the star role of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard into perpetuity.
The actress, who just closed out a revival run of the musical on Broadway in June, is in advanced talks to reprise the role of Norma Desmond in Paramount Pictures' film adaptation of the play, according to The Wrap.

Closer, who originated the role of Desmond in the stage musical in 1994, has been name dropped early in the project's development. The studio is still looking for a director and male lead to start opposite Close, reportedly wanting people familiar with the project. Insiders say Ryan Murphy was approached the lead the project but any deals have yet to be made, with Murphy's representation denying his involvement altogether.
For those unfamiliar with Boulevard's story, the Webber musical is based on the 1950 Billy Wilder film that followed Norma Desmond, a star of the silent film era who fell out of favor when talkies came into their own. Close won the Tony for Best Performance by a Leading Actress for her portrayal of Desmond in the musical's 1994 inaugural run.
