Following the news that Rihanna turned down the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show out of solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, Amy Schumer revealed on Instagram that she is also steering clear of the NFL and thinks other performers should as well.

"I wonder why more white players aren't kneeling. Once you witness the truly deep inequality and endless racism people of color face in our country, not to mention the police brutality and murders. Why not kneel next to your brothers? Otherwise how are you not complicit," asked Schumer. The actress and comedian went on to say that she thinks it "would be cool" if Maroon 5, who are playing the Halftime Show, "backed out of super bowl" like Rihanna.
"I personally told my reps I wouldn't do a Super Bowl commercial this year," added Schumer. "I know it must sound like a privilege [sic] ass sacrifice but it's all I got." She goes on to explain that "hitting" the NFL where it really counts, advertising, is the only way to make them take notice. "I know opposing the NFL is like opposing the NRA. Very tough, but don't you want to be proud of how you're living? Stand up for your brothers and sisters of color."
