The Real Mom from Boy Erased Applauds Nicole Kidman's Performance

Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman, and Russell Crowe star in the next big film about gay adolescence and conversion therapy. Written and directed by Joel Edgerton, Boy Erased is based on the memoir by Garrard Conley. It follows the son of a Baptist preacher, who's forcibly outed and sent to conversion therapy.

The character Kidman plays is based on the author's mom, Martha Conley. And the real-life matriarch has chimed in on Kidman's portrayal of her.

"Nicole got it right," she told Page Six. "They all did." Well, that's all we need to hear.
