In his 40 short years on this planet, Jake Shears has lived quite a life. The gay heartthrob was lead singer of the Scissor Sisters, just finished writing a memoir, and has "slept with a lot of people."
While on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote his new book, Boys Keep Swinging, the "Big Bushy Mustache" singer strolled down memory lane while sipping cocktails.
He spoke about his first apartment on South 1st Street in Williamsburg when he moved to NY nearly two decades ago.
"It rained in my room. It was like a raw loft."
Jake also go-go danced when he moved to the city, and that's how he discovered his love of performing.
"I loved the attention. I loved getting up on a bar and taking my close off and having fun. And then I realized this is getting boring what else can I do? Should I be a singing go-go dancer?"
And then while actually writing his memoir, reflecting on all his past experiences, "I realized what a whore I've been...You think you're fine and you think you've lived this normal life and then you get it all down on paper and you're like, 'Wow, I've slept with a lot of people.'"
(Same, Jake. Same.)
