Tinder in India Now has 23 Gender Options for Users

Gay Star News has reported that Tinder users in India now have nearly two dozen more options to pick for gender. Under the "I am" section of the profile, there will be a total of 23 genders from which to choose. Up until this week, users could only pick man or woman, but now, users can pick local gender identities including Hijra and Kothi. The company announced that the changes -- and the gender identities included -- were made with consultations of transgender and gender non-conforming Indians.
"Starting today, no matter how you identify, you can express your authentic self on Tinder," the company wrote in a blog post this week.
"Every new person in your life expands your horizons in some way. Inclusion and acceptance drive this expansion, and we want Tinder to reflect the world that surrounds us every day."
Tinder started being inclusive on multiple genders back in 2016, when they began to include 37 gender options on their "I am" feature in the U.S., U.K., and Canada.
