Gaga and Meryl are Tyra Banks' Dream Cast for Coyote Ugly 2
Baby, it's the right kind of wrong.
Tyra Banks is in full-on sequel mode. The America's Next Top Model host is fresh off the premiere of Life Size 2, the Freeform follow up to the 2000 Disney classic, co-starring Lindsay Lohan. But Banks isn't done with reviving 2000 just yet.
The supermodel/actress/producer has set her sights on another role from the golden era of her acting career. Banks told People TV that she's interested in making a sequel to Coyote Ugly.
The original follows Jersey girl, Violet (Piper Perabo), as she moves to New York with dreams of becoming a songwriter. When Zoe (Banks) leaves her coveted job as one of the dancers/bartenders at Coyote Ugly, Violet fills in while pursuing her musical passion. The film is complemented with a truly iconic soundtrack, including the LeAnn Rimes bop, "Can't Fight the Moonlight."
"I'm dying to do Coyote Ugly 2," Banks said. "I want to produce it. I just need to get the rights from Mr. Jerry Bruckheimer or work with him."
Although Banks' role in the original was strictly in front of the camera, she's taken on some producer credits in the years since.
And Banks is already aiming a little higher than airing this sequel on Freeform. Now that Lady Gaga is ready to snatch some Oscars gold for reviving A Star Is Born, what better vehicle than Coyote Ugly 2 for her follow up? And let's throw some Meryl in for good measure.
"Maybe Lady Gaga. The owner of the bar, the badass owner," Banks said. "Meryl Streep, Meryl Streep dancing on the bar with us. But like, she would be the bar, she should be the bar. Method actor!"
Although this would be a truly iconic lineup, we're not sure something so beautifully gay could ever exist. But at least we'll always have the "Moonlight."
