Dan Levy teased the new season to OUT.

Christmas came early! Not only does the Schitt's Creek holiday special premiere tonight on Pop TV, but season five is almost here. We recently spoke to Dan Levy, creator and star of the show about the Roses, a wealthy Manhattan family who ends up living in a motel in Schitt's Creek after losing all their money.

Last time we saw the Rose family, Alexis (Annie Murphy) started her own PR firm and got engaged while David's (Levy) general store and love life were better than ever. In the trailer for the new season, there appears to be some wiggery, nudity, and bisexuality in store for all. The sneak peek shows a glimpse of Alexis and Stevie (Emily Hampshire) sharing a smooch, followed by David and Ted (Dustin Milligan).

"Season five is, I think, just the most joyful season we've done so far," Levy tells OUT. "We've gotten a lot of the emotional bedrock laid, and now we're just having fun."

"We're pairing characters with different characters that they've never been paired before, we're expanding the world of the show and taking our characters outside of the town, we're building on relationships and tragedy. And ultimately, continuing to tell the story of this family slowly but surely realizing that money means nothing in the end."

In its first four seasons, the show has provided a witty, modern commentary on the American dream. Confined mostly to Schitt's Creek, it serves small town charm with big city glam and an unbeatable ensemble.

Season five of Schitt's Creek premieres January 16 on Pop TV. Watch the trailer below:
