Lance Bass Says Fatherhood Is One of His New Year’s Resolutions

The boy band alum will ring in 2019 with Barefoot Bubbly in Times Square.

This may just be the gayest New Year's Eve since the Mayans invented the calendar. Once again, Anderson Cooper will be ringing in 2019, joined by his BFF Andy Cohen tonight on CNN. Also at the Ball Drop will be Lance Bass, hosting on behalf of Barefoot Bubbly.

The entrepreneur, TV personality, and boy band alum joins Barefoot's Sleigh Team (also featuring Cecily Strong, Anna Faris, Chrissie Fit, Yvonne Orji, and Tituss Burgess), the wine brand's musical and comedic ambassadors for the holidays. Bass will serve as their onstage host in Times Square, helping count down to midnight. He'll also introduce the Sleigh Team's new music video, "Sleighin' the Holidays."

We caught up with with Bass to chat about what he and hubby, Michael Turchin, are excited for in 2019 and what they're ready to leave behind in the new year.

What are your New Year's Eve plans?

Barefoot is the official bubbly of Times Square New Year's, and I'm super excited to be hosting that party and leading the toast to a healthy and prosperous New Year for everyone. It's gonna be a lot of fun. It's my first time in Times Square for New Year's. I've done New York many times but I've never made it to Times Square, so I'm excited to see what happens.

How do you and Michael usually spend New Year's Eve?

It's different every year. A lot of the times, we end up in Miami because we're always visiting my in-laws around that time, so we just make it easy and stay there. Sometimes we get really fun offers like this Barefoot event, which I jumped at because it's just so perfect for my brand.

You two just celebrated an anniversary. Any advice on making a marriage work?

I mean the best advice is to just be understanding. Everyone's gonna have their differences, but I love the fact that we were able to get married because there's something about making that commitment and working through everything. And sometimes when you're just in a relationship, you let things kinda fester, and you can let a fight break you up, but when you're married, you're in it for the long haul.

Any resolutions this year?

I usually never keep them, that's for sure. Usually, New Year's resolutions always revolve around health, you know, "I'm gonna get back in the gym, I'm gonna eat healthy." But I know that's never gonna happen. So, this year I'm really focusing on a lot of things that I've been putting off for many years. I'm starting a lot of companies that I have had ideas for for a long time. We have the Bubble Tap Trailer where we take prosecco and we keg it, and we bring out in these shabby chic trailers at bachelorette parties and weddings. They love it. It's been really fun. And then, I'm starting a new mixers line of really tasty drinks with Jax Taylor from Vanderpump Rules. The company's called "Just Add X," so you just add whatever favorite liquor that you want in these very flavorful drinks. I hope to get that out by the spring.

Any update on that HGTV Brady Bunch show or another season of Finding Prince Charming?

I don't know what my involvement will be with the Brady Bunch house. I might just make an appearance. They haven't figured out yet what that show exactly is. But HGTV has been very sweet to me, and in fact, we're going to be working on another show together that I hopefully will be able to announce very soon. I want Finding Prince Charming to have a season two so badly. Of all of the TV shows I've done, that's the one everyone keeps asking me up about. People love it. I just hate that they decided not to do a second season. I really think it would be great if Netflix or something like that picked it up. Because of how great Queer Eye is doing for Netflix, I think this show would be groundbreaking for them.

Is there anything you're just ready to leave in 2018?

Yea, 2018 was an interesting one for sure. It definitely was not my favorite year. We're in the process of baby-making now. We've been working on it for a long time, and just lost our egg donor. So right now, we're onto the next one. So hopefully, all the frustration of making a baby in 2018 will end, and 2019 will bring us a lot more luck.

Tune in to TimesSquareNYC.org at 9:25pm EST to see Lance Bass and Barefoot Bubbly ring in 2019.
