In "Coming Out Stories," a new series produced by People and Entertainment Weekly, gay celebrities share their intensely personal tales of self actualization. Partially inspired by the new film Love, Simon, the series features Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Grey's Anatomy star Sara Ramirez, retired NBA player Jason Collins and Olympic sensation Gus Kenworthy.
In his video, Kenworthy opens up about the "really homophobic" culture of free skiing that kept him in the closet until he was 22 years old, just after the 2014 Olympics. The athlete also opens up about his on-screen Olympic kiss and the advice he wishes he could give his younger self.
