Nun Dies in Court While Battling Katy Perry Over a Convent
Katy Perry is having quite a week. First she redeemed herself in our gay hearts in a new clip from American Idol, and now a nun she was embroiled in a legal battle with has died in court trying to keep the pop star out of a convent. Is this the plot of Sister Act 3?
89-year-old Catholic nun, Catherine Rose Holzman, collapsed and died during a court hearing in Los Angeles on Friday. The nun was appearing in court as part of an ongoing battle with Perry, who offered $14.5 million for a former convent in 2014. The sale was ready to go through until the nuns did some research into the pop star. Well, I found Katy Perry, and I found her videos and if it's all right to say, I wasn't happy with any of it," Sister Rita Callanan, another nun fighting Perry with Holzman, told the Los Angeles Times in 2015."
Just before her death, Holzman made an impassioned plea to Perry on Fox 7. "Katy Perry, please stop. It's not doing anyone any good [and it's] hurting a lot of people."
