"This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on tv and felt alone and different," Rose wrote on Instagram.

Lesbian icon Ruby Rose will be playing another lesbian icon on The CW: Batwoman.

The Orange is the New Black actor took to social media to voice how excited she was to live out her "childhood dream."

As previously announced, Batwoman will make her CW debut in the crossover between four of the network's DC shows: The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl.

But in addition, CW is also developing an entire series based solely on the badass heroine.

Variety has described Batwoman, who's real name is Kate Kane, as being "armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind."

It continued, Batwoman is an "out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence."

However, it seems as if it would be premature to call Batwoman a full-fledged superhero just yet. Variety also said that "Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope."

Assuming the show will get picked up, (and I mean, it really should) it would air during the 2019-2020 season. Batwoman would be the first openly gay superhero to headline a live-action show or movie.
