All Your Faves Showed Up for MJ Rodriguez’s Surprise Birthday Party

Monday was MJ Rodriguez's birthday. (According to our mutual friend, Google, she just turned 28.) To celebrate, some of her friends and fellow Pose stars threw her a surprise party at a roller rink -- after faking her out like they weren't going to make it, of course.

To the best I can piece it together after looking at all the attendees' social media (it's not stalking if you're a journalist), Pose producer Tabase Popa took Rodriguez out to dinner one-on-one while Indya Moore, Hailie Sahar, Ryan Jamaal Swain, and a bunch of other people threw everything together. Does anyone else have the Golden Girls theme song playing in their head?

"@tanasepopa took baby J @mjrodriguez7 for dinner for her bday. He also stalled her while we got her surprise party together! She had no idea lol. She asked me to join her, told her i couldnt make it. Hehehehe #blessed," wrote Moore, who plays Angel Evangelista on Pose, on Instagram.

This is where my timeline totally falls apart, but, suffice it to say, Rodriguez -- who recently won a Dorian Award for her performance on Pose as Blanca Evangelista -- somehow got to the roller rink in time for her party. Janelle Monae was there, Janet Mock was there, and so were Angel Bismarck Curiel, EJ Johnson, Trace Lysette, Deja Smith, Jari Jones, Laith Ashley, Arisce Wanzer, and (I think that hat-and-frames combo belongs to??) Billy Porter.

"When the fam is lit!!!!! A sturdy foundation is what keeps the the tree standing tall, and this only half of the many roots that hold me together! I love you all!" Rodriguez captioned a group pic on IG. "Yas 'We Are A Family' Dreamgirls Style lol."
