Nyle DiMarco Takes His Shirt Off to Teach Police Sensitivity

“So you’ll pay attention to deaf rights.”

Nyle DiMarco is extremely hot. End of article.

OK, actually....Nyle DiMarco is extremely hot, but he is using that hotness to effect change. Last week it was releasing a sign language version of Ariana Grande's "7 rings" music video, now DiMarco is advocating for deaf rights by showing off his hot, naked torso. Take notes, people, this could be a viable option for solving climate change or getting Trump out of office.

DiMarco was a guest on Wednesday's episode of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, appearing in a segment called "Stop Doing That," a parody police re-training video centering on "policing the deaf and hard of hearing. The video, they joke, is the latest in a series, the previous 37 parts of which, says Bee, "focused on how not to shoot people of color. But today we're talking about another group mistreated by police."

DiMarco explains that American sign language is very big and expressive, which many police officers wrongly interpret as "wild or aggressive."

The video is full of important messages for officers like "sign language is not a threat," "don't ask people to lip read," and "call a real interpreter" before segueing into another segment, "Nyle Takes His Shirt Off: So you'll pay attention to deaf rights."

"I would watch the shit out of that," says Bee.

The video is full of infuriating real life videos of deaf people being mistreated by the police, and sobering facts like "50% of all people killed by police officers have disabilities." Hopefully, with the help of advocates like DiMarco, that can change. And if he happens to be shirtless while advocating for that change...yeah, we're alright with that!
