Power 50: Peter Thiel

You might recognize PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel in Peter Gregory, the eccentric angel investor modeled after Thiel on HBO's Silicon Valley. An avowed libertarian who favors pot legalization, and has invested in a panoply of futuristic technologies (from anti-aging research to space rockets), Thiel, in his latest venture, is funding Instapray, an app devoted to prayer and positivity. He also runs a fellowship that pays entrepreneurial college students to drop out and start their own companies. His estimated net worth in 2014: $2.2 billion.
